New Mexico Workforce Connection (NMWC)

The New Mexico Workforce Connection provides training services to a four-county region (Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia and Torrance). The NMWC is funded by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and administered by the Mid Region Council of Governments and in affiliation with the NMDOL One-Stop Center. The purpose of the program is to provide grants to new, existing and expanding employers to assist with expenses associated with skills training for full-time employees. The Customized Training Program provides a training grant of 50 percent and is usually intended for skills upgrade training for existing/incumbent workers. The NMWC also has an On-the-Job Training Program that reimburses 50 percent of training costs for new employees. This program is intended for people who require skills training in order to be employed. The participants must be WIA eligible or currently not employed, and the employer must commit to hire the person at end of the training period.
